We’re giving away a ridiculously fabulous and amazing eyeshadow set over at 30A Street Style. As a devoted Naked 2 palette user, I can tell you that this one is positively perfection and (I think) even better than the first two. I’m a sucker for rose gold these days and these shades are rosy neutrals with a few shimmers and deeper shades to balance. Buzz, Trick, Factory and Darkside are my favorites. You have to hurry! The giveaway ends Friday with the winner announced on Saturday. Click here to enter!
On a lazy weekend afternoon, I found myself watching Johnny Depp and the gorgeous Amber Heard in The Rum Diary. Have you seen it? Add it to your list. The simple yet glamorous coastal style throughout is mesmerizing and beautiful. The style cues include clean bright white, soft shell tones, vivid red lips, bronzed shoulders and perfectly coiffed hair — at the beach, no less! The outfits are drool-worthy and the makeup is perfection. Those red lips stuck in my head so long I couldn’t help but run right out and stock up on bold lip color. Watch it. You will, too.

I’ve been green with envy while fabulous fashionistas have been “taking in” the shows at New York Fashion Week over the past several days. Living vicariously through Instagram, Twitter and street-style blogs has helped calm the fashion craving and given a little insight into what we can expect for spring and summer.
One trend that couldn’t be missed: the perfectly imperfect fishtail braid that made its way down the runway on every single Tory Burch model. The braids were tightly woven then fussed up a bit for a look that is part fresh from the farm and part fresh out of bed. In fact, with a little bedtime braiding you could probably wake up with this exact hair style.
Lucky magazine served up some great backstage shots via Instagram of the models getting braided and ready. I love the combination of intricate weaving and messy flyways shown here.

If you need a little brushing up for your next fishtail, check out this video tutorial from Lauren Conrad and the fabulous ones at The Beauty Department here. It takes a little practice keeping the sections in place as you go, but before you know it, you’ll have runway ready hair a la Tory Burch SS 2013!
Call it crimson or ruby, garnet or burgundy, true red or fire engine. Either way, one of this fall’s shades du jour is the perfectly passionate and deeply daring family of red, from bright orangey red to rich blood red. Go for a monochromatic color block by pairing tone on tone or mix it in with classic neutrals like black, white or camel. Throw on your favorite deep shade for a lip look that’s perfect for a season thirsty for fun and notice-me details! The only thing better? A friendly glass of your favorite vino.

I’m considering something a little different with my hair and keep coming back to ombre. What do you think? Still a thing or totally over? Is it a hair do or a hair don’t?

I’m not sure I could ever bring myself to do this to my hair, but perhaps cutting a few inches has given me a new wild streak. Even Lauren Conrad, who has become somewhat of a beauty icon known for classic, simple, girly styles, infused some crazy color into her blonde extensions (below left). It may only be temporary, but it looks like fun. What do you think? Would you ever do it?

Long hair is like my security blanket and outside of my toddler years of growing it out, I think I’ve only ever cut my hair near my shoulders once. I wore it curly almost all the time back then and needless to say, the look wasn’t a hit. I had a lot to learn about styling and fighting frizz and the poodle look just didn’t suit. Now that Emery is here and I’m learning (at lightning speed) that selfish time in front of a mirror really isn’t realistic, I feel like a cut might be a solution. Less hair = less time spent on hair, right?
I just came across this spread on the lob (long bob) and am actually considering it. Who doesn’t want Jennifer Aniston hair? I love the texture of January Jones’. Maybe even a slightly longer version. Would that be a long lob? I can possibly, potentially, maybe, somewhat see my hair like this. So … to lob or not to lob? That is the question.

Since work wasn’t cancelled due to Sephora’s grand opening in Destin Commons last week, I’ve had to wait until yesterday to check it out. Finally, I got to see all the great products in person I had been scoping on the screen for so long. It was heaven!

Just a few of the goodies I picked out. Must. Return. Soon.

When it comes to the beauty side of weddings, there’s no better place to find inspiration and up-to-date styles than on the red carpet. Celebrities have access to the best hair and makeup artists who prime and primp pretty faces and fabulous hair practically every day for big events — maybe not weddings, but movie premieres and awards shows require the best of beauty. (Wouldn’t you love to have a celeb stylist make you over just once? I would!)
Since the temperature will be near 100 degrees and the girls will be wearing shorter bridesmaid dresses, I want to keep the look casually elegant with relaxed styles and not much fuss. Nothing too tight or slicked back. I like hairstyles that seem effortless and easy, but still look styled and in place — beachy but under control. I think I’ll be wearing my hair half up, half down with a few curls along the lines of one these lovely hairstyles:

No offense to Deb, but I think Jessica Alba, Kate Hudson, Lauren Conrad, Miley Cyrus, Molly Sims, Brittany Snow, Angelina Jolie and Carrie Underwood have the right ideas. Just lovely!

If you haven’t heard about Moroccanoil yet and you still have hair on your head, I suggest you get some of this stuff ASAP. It’s a miracle worker. I picked up the latest copy of People Style Watch only to see that one of my favorite famous faces says it’s her key to great summer hair. Lauren Conrad is one to talk about great hair — her beach waves look amazing from casual up-dos to ponytails to flowing mermaid hair. If you ask me, hers is the perfect hair to covet.
Just when the buzz about Moroccanoil was enough for me to add it to my shopping list, my mom came back from a big hair show with a few healthy samples to test. Let me tell you, this product is like gold.

I used a little drop before blow-drying and everything is says it does is true. Restored shine? Check. No heavy, oily hair? Check. Strengthened and conditioned? Check. Less drying time? Check. I’m sold! My hair feels smoother and bouncier than ever. That’s a major plus considering it’s nearly 100 degrees with high humidity and my hair is still lookin’ good.
Mom even snapped a pic of Kim Vo, the celebrity stylist responsible for Britney Spears’ extensions post-shaved-head. Wonder what his going rate is?
