I’m a little late this week, but I’m kicking off a new series called “Pretty Sweet Pick of the Week” highlighting one of my favorite “it” items from around the fashion world. This will give you a little more fashion inspiration and help me keep track of all the things on my wish list. Hint, hint.
So, what do you think? Do you like? How would you wear this Pretty Sweet Pick?
P.S. I’ll be announcing the J. Crew iPhone case giveaway winner tomorrow. Stay tuned!
Friends, I’m here today to confess the cold, hard truth. 1. Today was literally freezing. 2. I may be slightly obsess with the Easter Bunny’s fashion sense. But back to the first truth. This is not the balmy Florida weather I know and love. I was all bundled up like the kid in The Christmas Story in my new J. Crew coat, running hurriedly into the office or my car, escaping the cold to spend as few moments as possible in the chilly air. All I could think about was spring. Now that we’ve made the leap into the new year, the warm weather of late February and early March seems so close! It’s only a few short weeks away instead of what feels like a calendar year away, which means (drumroll please) sunshine and beach days and fresh salt air and joy! The first warm days of the year make everyone happy.
There’s something about that ray of Vitamin A that brings smiles to faces, pep in steps and instantly lightens moods. I love it! Just as fun as warm, sunny days are the cheery pastels of spring fashion. They’re so refreshing and a welcome change from the typically dark fall/winter palette. Here are a few I’m already daydreaming about that just might brighten a cold January day.

With the baby belly growing at what seems like an exponential rate, I’ve had more interest lately in fun accessories than anything else fashion-related. Even when my feet get too big for the shoes in my closet, a big necklace, chunky bracelet or watch always works. I spent my lunch hour today checking out the loot at the Fuss in Watercolor. I think I liked the accessories display just as much as the goodies themselvs. If only I could have a closet big enough to spotlight all my necklaces and such like this.
First of all, if you haven’t been shopping on Etsy, you’re totally missing out on tons of really cool hand-made products, lots of creativity and prices that are hard to beat. There are plenty of deals to be had on items covering every category under the sun. think of. Maybe it’s the nerd in me that loves online shopping. I don’t know. I openly admit to having a nerdy / geeky / dorky / clumsy / uncool side (which the fiance loves — or says he does). Little things like fonts, jargon, jokes that need to be explained, bookstores, computers and repeating silly movie quotes are…. well, the cheese to my macaroni. (And I love mac n cheese!).
Here are a few Etsy items to love to the nth power:
This vintage dictionary page with typewriter print by Little Blue Bird Studios would be perfect near my desk. After all, what nerd doesn’t need a good vocabulary?
Why not beat someone to the punch and sport your un-coolness loud and proud with this necklace
These Ctrl, Alt, Del key pillows are definitely geek chic! I would love them. Not to mention they’re Eco-felt (made from recycled plastic water bottles).
How cute are these “nerd” and “dork” espresso cups? They would be the uber-cool touches to brighten a dull morning.
P.S. If you want to take the geek test, go here.
I used to have a long locket necklace I wore almost every day until I broke the chain, but I haven’t been productive enough to fix it yet. It’s still sitting in my jewelry box waiting to be repaired. I think people put the most interesting things inside lockets — everything from old photos to the initials of someone special to inspirational words of wisdom. Instead of wearing your heart on your sleeve it’s like showing what you treasure most right in front of you and hanging around your neck. Why not wear a little diary necklace like this one, found on Etsy here. Just imagine what to put inside!
Lauren Conrad’s supercool Jennifer Zeuner necklace jumped out against the classic black Alice + Olivia blazer she sported in LA recently, immediately making it on my own current hot list. The swirly design is an update from the traditional monogram and is a fun way to add a little personalization to your wardrobe and pump up your style at the same time.

is having somewhat of a major sale on accessories as we speak! There’s so much good stuff to be had. One of my finds is this gold knot necklace
on sale for about $20 off. Not too shabby. Now what to wear….
I think it would add a lot to a little shift dress, blouse/pencil skirt or even jeans and a flirty tank.

I love getting new magazines! It’s so relaxing to stretch out and flip through all the glossy pages without a care in the world. Almost a stress reliever. The new ELLE magazine
with Reese Witherspoon on the cover appeared and I got to see all sorts of fun new fashions. I noticed a cool zodiac necklace by Elizabeth Cole
and went to the web to do a little more exploring. I discovered an even better LOVE necklace
that I could wear with almost everything and it’s like three charms in one. What else do you need?
You may not have heard too much about jewelry designer Fiona Paxton, but her edgy pieces are making appearances around several Hollywood necks. Hilary Duff and Drew Barrymore have both been spotted wearing the supercool hand-beaded necklaces from across the pond that add a little rock /flapper glamour to any outfit. I love the way it jazzes up even a plain white tank. Check out all the designs here at the UK site Nina & Lola or shop stateside at debut boutique in NYC.

These bright and shiny baubles are so fun! They’re a perfect way to transition into spring — just imagine all the outfits you could jazz up. I love the silk chiffon on the necklace!
