Especially when they come in colorful gift bags. Emery and I stopped by the ol’ workplace to see Hunter’s mom and after lots of visiting, baby talk, plenty of oohs, ahhs and a little feeding, we left with these goodies.
Tracy gave us the sweetest, softest blanket I’ve felt yet, complete with Emery’s name embroidered on it. I can see her getting lots of good nap time wrapped in this baby!
Before today, I had never heard of Inch Bugs, but now I’m a big fan. Harriet gave us these fabulous bands, which are personalized and ready to claim Emery’s bottles as her own. So clever and we will surely put these to use when I go back to work and Emery starts day care. I love these!
Harriet also sent a frilly little outfit which has girly girl written all over it with pink galore, ruffles, polka dots and a big flower. What a fun dress up outfit for Emery. There is only so long a daughter will allow her mother to dress her in something with ruffled legs, so I might as well take full advantage before that door closes.
Dana sent this adorable onesie, perfect for the daughter and granddaughter of shrimpers. I think Hunter will really like this one on Em. P.S. The shrimp dinner we had the other night was tasty, delicious and best of all — caught fresh right in our own bay by the Ray family shrimp boat. Hard to beat that!
After loading these fun gifts in the car, we met up with Hunter for lunch at where else… Fat Daddy’s Pizza. I have to admit, it’s pretty hard to resist.
By the time we got home from this little outing, Emery was so tired she couldn’t even sleep. Not that’s a rough life! I let her test the swing for a nap spot, but no luck.
She just wanted lunch, too. I love the way she holds her hands when she eats. It’s usually one of three positions. She folds them politely under her chin, straightens her arms with tightly balled fists or spreads her fingers out as straight and wide as she can. It’s pretty adorable, but then again, I am her mom and I would most likely say that about anything Emery-related.
Aren’t her little flowers kitschy cute?
It only took a few moments after her lunch for that familiar drowsy feeling to take over and nap time to begin.
Out like a light.
My sweet girl turned two weeks old yesterday and we celebrated by giving Emery her first bath! She’s been a little fussy lately so she wasn’t too thrilled about the whole process but in the end I think she liked it. At least she’s still lovable when she cries. The bath set Jocelyn got her and the hooded kitty cat towel from Jennifer made it all that much cuter.
My sweet girl is doing so great and getting cuter by the day. Of course, I’m a little biased but when everyone else agrees, it must be true. Right? Today, Miss Emery had her first official photoshoot with my go-to photographer Amanda Suanne. She’s done our engagement pics, wedding photos, maternity session and now our baby’s first professional photos. The results are always amazing! Emery had to get nakey for most of the photos and she seemed to have no problem with it. She was even so comfortable she peed on a blanket! She’s already 12 days old and as big as I think she’s gotten since we’ve been home, she seemed so small all curled up for the camera. It didn’t take long after her big shoot wrapped before sweet Em was snoozing and squeaking through the afternoon. I guess being the center of attention all the time is hard work. I can’t wait to see all the shots. Within a few hours, Amanda texted me this precious sneak peek which I immediately shared with my mom and sister. I know the rest will be just as adorable. P.S. Thanks Sam for her adorable flower dress! She loved it! And thanks to her Grammy for getting her such cute accessories for her big close up! Who doesn’t like a baby with a big flower on her head?
Three of my favorite people threw me a fabulous shower last Saturday with every little detail perfectly planned. There were pink touches galore and a delicious food spread complete with pink lemonade, pink grapefruit infused water, pink Rice Krispies, fruit with a pink yogurt dip, pink cupcakes, and even more tasty treats. Becca, Jennifer and I are sorority sisters and they even included the G Phi B flower in a cute pink carnation arrangement. There was a station for everyone to give advice, a clothesline strung with baby clothes and a stack of gifts bigger than I’d ever seen, even at Christmas! They completely spoiled me and I’m so grateful to count them as dear friends. Everyone else who attended was so gracious in giving Emery such cute clothes and essentials that I think I have almost everything on my list! I even got to see sweet baby Alexandra who was along with Danielle for her first baby shower appearance. What a cutie she is! Thanks everyone for making it such a special day.
Yesterday’s shower was so much fun and so adorably pink. Jennifer, Becca and Danielle did such a fab job organizing it all, decorating and picking out the perfect pink spread for everyone to munch on. I didn’t get a chance to snap too many photos, so I’ll have to wait for Jennifer to share hers. Meanwhile, Mom and Jennifer came over today to help me unload and unpack all my gifts. I was way too spoiled and received an entire SUV full of stuff for Emery. At this point, her wardrobe is looking better than mine!
Here are all the bags after we hauled them from the car to the nursery. This doesn’t even include the big items like a super fabulous play pen all the hostesses and Shannon chipped in for.
We hung up what will go in the closet, then folded and stacked the rest to go in the dresser / changing table drawers once it arrives.
Since it hasn’t come in yet, this is where we finished. So far, we’re just shy of chaos and I’m closing in on a month to go. Should I have already lost my mind?
Emery is getting to be quite the big girl! She’s up to 5 pounds now and is constantly squirming around in my belly. It’s crazy to see my whole stomach move. In fact, that’s about all I can see when I look down. The sight of my feet is just a distant memory these days. According to schedule, only seven more weeks to go!
How cute is this invitation for my baby shower next month? Jennifer, Danielle and Becca are putting it together for me and they are doing such a fabulous job! Even though I never really considered myself a “pink” person before getting pregnant, I can’t seem to get enough of it now. The baby pink is just so sweet and lovely. It seems like a perfect fit for little Em (as Hunter has started calling her). Can’t wait for the shower date!
While I’m not usually into feathered flying things, I found this musical mobile from Bananafish and thought the little birdies were really cute. The vintage looking fabric is cool and I think the turquoise and brown will add a nice little pop of color without being too loud. The striped fabric on the arms might have to go, but the rest is pretty snazzy.
Even though she wasn’t scheduled to arrive for another week, Danielle and Jason’s little girl made her big debut yesterday at 11:44 AM. This was my first sighting of her that Jason posted. She is so adorable!
I made my way over to visit the proud mama and see the little cutie. The pictures just don’t do her justice. Little Alexandra Marie is even more lovable in person — and so tiny! Just look at those feet.
I arrived during meal time so the sweet little girl wasn’t too thrilled about being pulled away from her mama for a photo op. She tried so hard not to cry and made the cutest little faces fighting back those tears.
Love this goal that was posted in the room!
Danielle made it through like a trooper and while she wasn’t up for a pic, I can say she was just as lovely as ever! I was so proud of her and brought a little something pink for her to remember the day her baby girl Alexandra was born.
Hearing the good, the bad, the ugly and the absolutely incredible straight from Danielle and seeing how precious a newborn baby is just made me want to fast forward to April. It’s a bit overwhelming and completely exciting all at the same time. There is so much I still need to do and learn before she gets here, but I just can’t wait to meet little Emery!
